(Solved) - Sound problem on Toshiba Satellite P100
(16 posts)Hi everyone, very nice forum you have here.
I have the same problem as gramps2008 on my Toshiba Satellite, running on Win7 32bit. Just there is one thing. With my Microsoft High definition sound driver my mic is very quiet, and i need a bit louder mic (i kind'a record some music). With Conexant High Definition SmartAudio HD2 driver, i get very much louder mic. But there is that problem, after screen saver in device menager i need to click 'Scan for hardware changes'. I couldn't find any good sound driver to solve my problem. Thx for any help, and btw sorry if my English isn't so good.

Hi Mile. I would disable screensaver (it is known to cause problems) and have your screen shut down after a certain time instead. The desktop comes back just as quick.
Thx for fast answer Lighthouse, but it is not working. Same problem when i turn on my pc, no sound until i click 'Scan for hardware changes'. It's problem with driver for sure, just i couldn't find better one. Is there any way for windows to automaticly scan for hardware changes or something? Or if not, any sugestion where i might find sound driver (i couldn't find official one at Toshiba site for my model, Satellite P100-346). Thx again.
all the Satellite P100 models on the Tosheba site have an ST9xxx number. does yours have such? Hit Download lnk and select your model.
Where could i find that number? On the back of the laptop there is model Toshiba Satellite PSPAAE.
Is this the one ?

Did you put Windows 7 on it? As far as I can see That model P100 came with XP and could be upgraded to Vista with some dificulty, upgrading BIOS among it. I doubt if there are any Windows 7 drivers for it. I may be misinterpreting the data, but if you are upgrading it these are the types of problems you run into. You may have to invest in an exzternal USB sound adapter for this one.
I got this laptop as a gift, don't know what system was installed before windows 7. Guess i'll have to buy a usb sound card.
Any chance driver would be working on linux or some other system?
Probably a good chance. There are drivers for XP, I believe. Linux keeps there stuff pretty simple so drivers are not usually a problem.

Just re-reading your first post : You have a 'screensaver in Device Manager...' ???
Thank you very much for fast answers and time. I will let you know wheter linux help. If nothing, usb sound card :D.
I don't understand, screensaver in Device Manager?
Oh, srry for that, it's my bad english :D. After screen saver i must click on scan for hardware changes. But, I gues it is not screen saver, tryed what Lighthouse told me, and nothing... :(
The problem is solved with latest Ubuntu installed. Thank you Xhi.
